Featuring...Nancy's Quilts: Love Signs

One of my favorite field trips is going to Nancy's Quilts. Nancy inspired my character, Nancy (surprised?) in Love Signs: Farm Help Wanted. (Can't you see Love Sign's Aunt Kathy and Crystal wandering around the store conspiring with Nancy on new products to sell at the local Farmer's Market?)

In my next book (teaser alert), her shop is featured! Super excited! I didn't want to wait until then to share a blog about her fun projects.

...Look at the cute aprons Nancy made for her help to wear (especially during Shop Hop times which are in April and October). She even has her new Website embroidered on it! Clever (and fancy) Nancy!...

I love Nancy's shop. And guess what? I've never made a quilt. I've helped tie quilts and helped quilt quilts, but I haven't joined the ranks of quilter. That's okay. Nancy has more projects than quilts. I took a couple pictures as examples, though she has much more, including fancy scarf yarns, wall hangings, even banners. As you look around the shop's multiple rooms, maybe you'll hear the fabric and notions whispering, maybe even shouting at you about their potential.

Meet Nancy...
Not only is she great with piecing, color schemes, and instructing, she has a wicked fun sense of humor!
(Look at the cute wall hangings behind her!)

Nancy helped (and continues to help) teach me to sew, as well as teaching my daughter to sew an adorable two (or three if wanted) toned pillowcase in one of her classes.

Now to her rooms and projects!

Main room fun!

Some of the smaller projects

After enjoying the many fabric and pattern choices in the main room, don't forget the two rooms down the hall...

...and yarns

Juvenile room with doll, kid, bib, blanket and other patterns
and projects, fun fabrics...
Ready for sleigh bells and hot chocolate?
 The year-round Christmas room!!!
There are so many choices I usually stand in the room,
spinning around and around.
Nancy even has Disney's Frozen fabrics and projects!
There are beautiful table runners, wall hangings and pillows.
On the other side of her shop, don't miss her notions and class room.

If it isn't open, ask about visiting the Bargain Barn (part of Nancy's) on the other side of the driveway!

A cute organizing bag. My size of project!
Another my kind of project!
Zipper organizer pouches.
Little cash pouches!

Wingsong Loves Owl City's Plant Life

I turned on Pandora today to help inspire me as I knocked out some pretty heavy edits to one of my WIPs after some late night inspiration. I don't know much about the group, Owl City, except they were recommended to me, so I added their station. As soon as this song came on, my fingers stopped moving. I was arrested by the words, the sounds, the different meanings possible.

I couldn't help but notice how the lyrics apply to Lissy's journey in Wingsong and the other books in Danaan Legacy. Life can feel pretty dead sometimes, covered in sheets, dusty, even full of spiderwebs...but we can grow just like Owl City's daisies pushing through the floor. Push past the darkness. Push past the spider webs. Push past the fear. Find hope, find passion, find a way to make a difference and stretch your wings and fly or even as the lyrics say, waltz through the forest! Sing and shine if you can find any way possible. The more our soul's fly, the more we can build, dream, and lift others! It isn't always possible, and if you can't right now, hold on until you can.

I'm posting the Owl City YouTube link to a live recording of Plant Life. I hope it inspires you to 'bust' out of your own 'haunted house,' whatever that might be! (If you love the song as much as I do, don't forget to give the artists some love by paying and downloading it from your favorite provider.)

Love Signs Cover Reveal

I am excited to present the cover to my new romance called, Love Signs, Farm Help Wanted. We had too much fun doing the cover shoot! My photographer had loads of great ideas, plus I had two of the most beautiful people on the planet posing for us!

If they are so beautiful why are their faces not shown? I want to honor my readers so you can imagine your own characters. However, if you want to look at the back cover (when it is available) they are there, a little covered by words, but still there, and gorgeous!

Hope you enjoy! I will be putting together another blog about the photo shoot to share some of the fun we had! (I'm sharing one little word for a teaser about the shoot now so that I'll be sure to cover it...ready...Cyclops.)

Seven 11 Blog Hop Love Signs Teaser

This is such a fun way to begin 2015. I get to share an excerpt from my upcoming release, Love Signs, for this month's Seven 11 Blog Hop.

Don't forget to check out the other authors in the hop. If you click on the author name links not only can you discover new favorites, they have other authors listed that are for readers over eighteen. Make sure you read to the end, I have a link to Heather Hildenbrand's GIVEAWAY!

Love Signs is a clean country romance, my first to be published outside the fantasy realm. I AM EXCITED! I love living in fantasy worlds, but this world was fun to imagine as well. Its setting is my version of where I live. I was able to research (as well as imagine) how the area was when my Grandma lived here, my mom, and how it has grown in my lifetime.

I tried to pull feelings from each era into the story to make it have the sense of timelessness I feel here, even though we have become a booming bedroom town for our capital. I wanted to share with you a touch of the beauty surrounding me: the fields sprouting, growing, being harvested; the gorgeous colors in our Idaho sunrises and sunsets and the old rickety farms along with the new ones. Or how about the old country downtown with its repurposed movie theater, park named after Bernard F. Fisher, an awesome war hero (who is extra special to me, since he performed my marriage to my sweetheart), and the movers and shakers who bring us great small businesses, education, sports and other opportunities for our rising generation.

Here are the seven lines from my upcoming release, Love Signs...

When I glanced back as I left the store, he was still watching me. I grinned, oddly embarrassed to be caught, and managed to wave a finger at him, my hands occupied with the grocery sacks.
Despite my embarrassment, I looked once more as I pulled out of the parking spot. He was talking with someone. Someone I recognized, to my dismay, as the only face in Kuna I hated to see. Lindsay.
“Of course.” My anger surprised me. What does it matter? I'd always liked tall, dark and handsome. Clean cut, short hair. Not this man, sun bleached and amber-eyed, with unshaven face and broad shoulders filling his motorcycle jacket. He wasn’t my type.

You are WONDER WOMAN (or SUPER MAN): Fake it till you make it! A gift to yourself and others!

I love the fun and power associated with super heroes. Since childhood I've loved Wonder Woman. I thought if I concentrated hard enough while spinning I could be an awesome Amazon champion too. Unfortunately, my concentration levels haven't been enough. So, instead, I love wearing super hero apparel.

(This is my belt buckle my brother gave me. LOVE IT!)

I even wore Wonder Woman Footies to the PajamaRama Book Signing! (At the IndieRecon Live in Utah with Eva Pohler...another Wonder Woman.) I had so much fun!

When I was still in the single digits, I made paper cut outs and taped them all over me...crown, bracelets, and believe it or not lips. (wish I had a picture to share of those!) Yes. Lips. Wonder Woman has powerful lips. Through them she can talk sense to the insensible or even those longing for sense! Bringing me to a gift I want to share with you!

Several months ago, my friend posted a link to this Ted Talk by Amy Cuddy, entitled Your body language shapes who you are. I have since used Amy Cuddy's tips many times. I love how I feel empowered by my own actions. How the Wonder Woman pose can take me from jittery to feeling fun. During this holiday season, give yourself and others the gift of amping up your confidence, so you can be that magnificent person you sometimes hide or curl around protectively! This is one of the times where 'fake it till you make it' is absolutely okay to embrace!

Wonder Woman (and Superman) here to save the day!!! (Link to YouTube of theme song to get you pumped up!)

Seven 11 Blog Hop Firesong Teaser

It's fun looking forward to the eleventh of each month! I get to search through my published works as well as those in progress to choose seven lines to share with you for the Seven 11 Blog Hop. Wait! There's even more fun. I have links to other authors doing the same! Isn't this such a fun opportunity to possibly find a new favorite author, book, or even series?!

Now, let's get to the teaser!
Excerpt from...
Firesong, book two of the Danaan Legacy

"James!"

Gasping, she realized his hands were pulled behind him and his legs bound. She heard the crunch and more dirt and rocks rained on them. She threw herself over James to cover him.

"Do not panic," the commanding voice broke into laughter. "In moments we will pull you from the pit with your pathetic creature. We will deliver you whole." More snow bombarded her. "You just stay put a few more minutes until my...." A sickening gurgling sound replaced the sinister words.

Lissy dug through the snow around James' partially buried head. She caressed his face. "James! Wake up!"

SEVEN 11 Blog Hop Featuring Firesong

It's so exciting to choose seven lines from my works to share with you for the Seven 11 Blog Hop!
I also have links to several other authors sharing seven line excerpts from their works.

Don't miss reading to the end for a GIVEAWAY by SM Boyce and Janet Wallace.
Isn't this such a fun opportunity to possibly find a new favorite author, book, or even series?!

For this month's fun posting of seven lines, I chose an exchange between Lissy and the character she nicknamed 'Superman' when he swooped in to save her life without sharing his name or her seeing his face.

Firesong, book two of the Danaan Legacy

Hah! I don't have to eat alone!
I never told you I wanted you to eat alone. Come find me already.
You have the advantage, Superman. You know who I am.
Don't underestimate yourself. I'm not the only one with 'superpowers.' Use your abilities to find me. Urgh! You are so frustrating.
But don't you agree a challenge makes you appreciate the prize that much better?
If I wasn't inside your head, those words would have been so...
